George Edward Wyman, age 76 of Westby, WI died surrounded by family on Sunday, July 16, 2006 in LaCrosse after a long bout with cancer. He was born November 28, 1929 in Bartlett, NE to Thomas Edward and Edith (Prewitt) Wyman. He worked on a ranch as a young man. He served in the US Army from 1950 -1953 in Korea (where he was wounded) and in Germany. He married Evonell Joyce Sagmoen on November 28, 1953. The couple farmed near Esofea before they moved to Omaha, NE and then Council Bluffs, IA and eventually back to Westby, WI. George worked many jobs in life and finished his career as a truck driver. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, horseback riding with his children, fishing, as well as mushroom and ginseng hunting. George is survived by his wife, Evonell, and their seven children: David Wyman of Westby, Cynthia Manske of Coon Valley, Dale (Julie) Wyman of Fox Lake, Sandra of Prineville, OR; Daniel (Pandora) Wyman, Andrew (Cherice) Wyman, and Scott (Kim) Wyman, all of Westby. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren: Brad (Bonnie) Wyman of Necedah, Karrie Wyman of Oakdale, Chelsea Wyman of Westby, Anthony Manske of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; Brian (Sara) Manske of LaCrosse, Paul Mortenson of Fargo, ND; Joshua (Priscilla) Mortenson of Alvin, TX; Trisha (Tim) Dahlen of Westby, Taylor Wyman of Westby, Christina Cronn of LaCrosse, Gina Kluiber of Sun Prairie, and Amber Kluiber, and Ethan, Dillon, and Colby Wyman all of Westby. He is further survived by 8 great-grandchildren, and siblings: Lillian (Kenneth) Martin of Lincoln, NE; Katherine Berney of Bartlett, NE; Marjorie Fisher of Fremont, NE; LuElla Vidlak of Omaha, NE; and Eugene (Joyce) Wyman of Omaha, NE; his sister-in-law, Shirley (Norman) Sidie of Westby; and his "adopted sister" Linda Dowling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joanne; three brothers-in-law; one grandchild, Devon Scott Wyman; and one son-in-law, DuWayne Manske. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dell United Methodist Church. Pastor Jean Waldron will officiate with Military Rites by Syverson Funk American Legion and Westby VFW. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 South Hwy 14, Westby. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
