Georgia Caroline Hoffland, May 23, 2005 Georgia Caroline Hoffland, age 91, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. She was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Charles L. and Flora (Bierce) Weber. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1931. She married Palmer A. Hoffland on November 3, 1934 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, Wisconsin. They lived in Viroqua before moving to Baraboo where Palmer worked at Badger Ordinance during World War II. They returned to the Viroqua area and farmed on Cherry Grove Ridge before moving into Viroqua in 1954. Georgia had worked at the Viroqua Telephone Company until they moved to Baraboo and returned to work at the telephone company after they moved off the farm. She retired in the late 1970s after nearly 30 years. Georgias music: she played both the piano and organ her entire adult life, including playing the organ occasionally at the Bethel Home while a resident. She played at many banquets, weddings, funerals, church services, radio broadcasts on the Old Time Hour (WVRQ) and for her family. Many will recall the piano/organ duets played by Georgia and Pricilla Wintz or Marjorie Felde. She served as an organist for the Rebecca Lodge and most recently for the Order of Eastern Star. Georgia was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Magdalene Circle and played piano and organ for the W-ELCA Auxiliary and Bethel Home Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband Palmer in 1998. She is survived by her sons, Palmer "Duffy" (Martha) Hoffland of Viroqua, John (Penny) Hoffland of Eau Claire, and Phillip Hoffland of Viroqua, three grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Noble of Bloomington, MN, Rebecca (Brian) Rady of Paletine, IL, and Lukas Hoffland of Eau Claire, WI, her sister Charlotte (Otto) Minshall of Kenosha, WI and three great-grandsons, Tyler and Tate Noble and Kyle Rady
