Gerald A. Stoltz, 94, of Viroqua died Saturday, April 23, 2011 . Gerald A. Stoltz, age 94 of Viroqua and formerly of Westby, died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua where he had been a resident for the past 10 years. He was born on December 8, 1916, in the township of Willow, Richland County, Wisconsin to Albert and Alma (Wheeler) Stoltz. On May 24, 1943 he was united in marriage to Betty Oberson at St. James Catholic Church, Rising Sun. He worked for the CCC Camp in the Bud area, rural Viroqua prior to working for Badger Ordinance. He worked at Trane Co. in LaCrosse until 1950. They moved to Westby and farmed until 1979 when they retired. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by his children: John (Jennifer) Stoltz of LaFarge, Jane (Bernard) Harter of Viroqua; Joyce (Roger) Humfeld of Westby, Jerome (Vangie) Stoltz of Honolulu, Hawaii; 10 granddaughters; two grandsons; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marguarite OConnell of Mt. Horeb, WI; brother-in-law, Bernard Buse; sister-in-law, Jeannette Stoltz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; five sisters; one grandson, Larry Humfeld; and great-grandson, Jake Kohlmeier. Blessed be our memory of Gerald A. Stoltz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. Fr. Robert J. Cook will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby.
