VIROQUA / WESTBY Gerald M. 'Gary' Volden, age 72 of Viroqua, died Thursday July 6, 2017. Gerald M. Gary Volden left this world Thursday July 6, 2017 to join his heavenly family. Gary was born in La Crosse, WI on November 5, 1944 to Hjalmer and Palma (Hanson) Volden. After graduating from High School Gary started his career in trucking. His love of trucking allowed him to travel the country with his good friend Jimmy Clark and see many states. It wasnt until his fall, where he suffered brain damage and became confined to the nursing home, that his traveling came to a halt. Gary loved the states of Arizona, and Washington where he met his wife Bunny. Gary leaves to mourn: his sister Debbie (Howard) Keenlance of Viroqua, his brother Bobby (Joy) Volden of Westby, a brother-in-law Kenneth Nyhus of Janesville, a sister-in-law Doris Volden of Westby, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, his brothers Howard, Joel, Donald and Lester and sisters Lois, Lillian, Barbara, sisters-in-law Loretta and Doris and brothers-in-law Loren Oliver and Martin Willger, a nephew Jon Paul Volden and great-nephew Matthew Keenlance. Garys love for life kept him going and he will always be remembered as being a fighter. It is his love for Vintage cars that will keep him cruising, until we meet again. Funeral services for Gary will be Tuesday July 11, 2017 at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St. in Westby at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Dan Wollman will officiate with burial at the Vang Cemetery immediately following the service. Friends may call during a visitation from 1-2 P.M., the hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
