Geraldine "Gerry" Iona (Swiggum) Everson, 79, of Viroqua and formerly of Soldiers Grove died April 13, 2008. Geraldine "Gerry" Iona (Swiggum) Everson, 79, of Viroqua and formerly of Soldiers Grove passed away on April 13, 2008 in Viroqua. She was born on August 4, 1928 to Flossie (Lewis) and Henry Swiggum at rural Soldiers Grove. Gerry graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1946. She and Thomas "Tom" Everson were married on December 27, 1946. She and Tom farmed at rural Soldiers Grove and also ran a trucking business. Gerry was active in her church, Kickapoo United of Folsom, and in her community, especially as an EMT for the North Crawford Rescue Squad. She loved family and doing things with them. Gerry is survived by her children - Larry (Linda), Tony (Barb) of Viroqua, Bob of Ontario and Wanda (Ian) Aird of Westby; Her grandchildren - Tim (Cheryl) Everson of Marshfield, Troy Everson of Burlington, Tammy (Luke) Zitzner of Viroqua, Leah Everson (Marcus) and Matthew Everson (Zorah) of California, Thomas Everson (Amanda) of Muscoda, James Everson of Soldiers Grove, Steven (Susan) Campbell and Nathan (Sue) Campbell of Westby, Heather Peterson of Fitchburg, Julie Peterson (Travis Geier) of Westby, Jason (Kari) Showen and Bobbi Jo (Rick) Goodman of Lacrosse, Christopher Everson and Courtney Everson of Viroqua; and great-grandchildren Hannah & Kyle Everson of Marshfield, Madysen, Saige & Braylan Zitzner of Viroqua, Chelsea, Andrew, Sadari and Ella of California, Mariah Everson of Muscoda, Jordan Campbell and Lauren and Cody Campbell of Westby, Alec and Sam Showen and Tayah Jule Goodman of LaCrosse; three sisters-in-law of Viroqua: Ann Eide, Marie Hauge and Agnes Everson; a brother-in-law, Walter Maybee of Indiana and a very special friend, Sylvan Nundahl of Viroqua. Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Julie, her parents, a sister, Betty and brother, Harland and many brothers and sisters-in-laws. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. The funeral will be Wednesday, April 16 at 11 a.m. at Kickapoo United Lutheran Church, Folsom, rural Soldiers Grove. The family requests memorials be given to the Kickapoo United Lutheran Church at Soldiers Grove or the Vernon Memorial Hospice House, Viroqua. "ONE DAY AT A TIME SWEET JESUS!"
