Gladys Thelma Lunde

Gladys Thelma Lunde, age 81 of Viroqua, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was born on March 28, 1925 to John and Mathilda (Gunderson) Torgerson in the township of Washington, LaCrosse County. She was baptized by Pastor Huland in the Coon Valley Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Skogdalen Lutheran Church. On September 5, 1942 she was united in marriage to Manley Lunde in the Westby-Coon Prairie parsonage by Pastor Holum. They farmed in rural Westby and Viroqua before selling and moving to Viroqua in 1964. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the WELCA. Gladys had babysat and worked at the Bethel Home in Viroqua for 28 years, retiring because of her health. She is survived by her husband, Manley; two daughters: Gloria (Myron) Burke of Viroqua, and Vicki Kinserdahl and friend (Howard Hanson) of Viroqua; one son, Rodney Lunde and friend (Anita Peterson) of Westby; two special grandchildren: Jessica (Todd) Hill of Westby and Paul Kinserdahl of Westby; one great-grandchild, Trinity Taylor Ann Hill, the latest special gift from God; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Allan John in 1946 and one great-grandchild, Tristan Tyler Hill; four sisters: Marie (Alvin) Lee, Alice (Raymond Dunnum), Alette Torgerson, Josie (Lyder Lee); two brothers: Julius in infancy and Maurice. Blessed be the memory of Gladys Thelma Lunde, a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. The family wishes to thank everyone for all the prayers and comfort they gave us and Gladys. Pastors Dennis and Julie for their many visits and all the spiritual support they gave mom and our family. Youll never know how very much it has meant to us. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday after 12:00 noon. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
