Glen E. Ehle, 84 of Viroqua, died on Friday, July 2, 2010. Glen Edward Ehle, age 84, of Burlington/Viroqua passed away Friday, July 2, 2010 at Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua, Wisconsin. Glen was born on March 27, 1926 to Glen and Lena (Ledeke) Ehle in Phillips, Wisconsin. He graduated early from Phillips High School to enlist in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On November 5, 1949 he was married to Betty Jean Richter from Kennan, Wisconsin. They were married 57 years. He worked as a telegraph operator for the Soo Line Railroad in Oak Park, Illinois moving to Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point and then to Burlington in 1960, working for the Soo Line nearly 20 years. He then worked for the U.S. Postal service in Burlington as a rural mail carrier for 30 years retiring in 1994. Glen and Betty traveled some and became snow birds between Burlington and Mesa, Arizona. They loved the warm weather in Mesa and the continuation of square dancing there, which they did for over 40 years. He was a 62-year member of the Masonic Lodge with current membership held in Burlington Lodge No. 28. He was Past Master of the Burlington Lodge and member of the Tripoli Shriners of Milwaukee. Glen is survived by his daughter Karen (Douglas) Traastad of Westby; his son Kenneth (Tamara) Ehle of Boulder Junction; and his daughter Sharon (John) Loiacano of Apache Junction, Arizona. His grandchildren include Laura Traastad of Madison, Daniel Traastad of Westby; and Mesa, Michelangelo, and Autumn Ehle of Boulder Junction. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families, other family members and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents Glen and Lena Ehle, his wife Betty Jean Ehle, and his daughter Diane Louise Ehle from leukemia in 1971. He was also preceded in death by his sister Ida Podhora. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Burlington United Methodist Church in Burlington, WI. Pastor Marjorie Rice Myers will officiate with burial in Burlington Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
