Glenda Phillips

February 10, 1943 — June 27, 2022

Glenda Phillips, age 79, of rural De Soto passed away peacefully Monday, June 27, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born February 10, 1943, to the late Elwood and Ruby (Almendinger) Auwerter. Glenda met the love of her life, Richard, in Ellsworth while he was stationed at the Ellsworth Air Force Base and they later married on September 28, 1958. They moved to Wisconsin where they raised their family in the rural De Soto area. Glenda was a kind and generous person, she never hesitated at the opportunity to help someone else. She found great joy in the happiness of others. She had a spectacular talent and passion for crafts, sewing, stained glass and quilting. Glenda had the biggest heart for everyone close to her, especially when it came to her family. In addition to her kindness and love, she ran a successful painting and cleaning business for several years. Glenda always wanted to take the time to help others including, helping the elderly, and for a short time, helping at the food pantry in Stoddard. Glenda was extremely proud of her flower gardens especially her roses, they are just the most beautiful roses around. She loved her family dearly and of course, always spoiled her grandchildren. Holidays were always special at Glenda and Richard’s, where she would cook and bake for everyone so they could all spend time together as a large family. Her family will always remember the great family vacations they took yearly to her home state of South Dakota to spend time with her brothers and sisters. These and many other wonderful memories will be cherished. Glenda is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard; her children: Lori (Dyrke) Althof, Tracy (Gerald) Lawrence, Rick (Sally) Phillips, and Ritchie (Michelle) Phillips; grandchildren: Matthew (Tracy) Loken, Angie (Lenord) Hatch, Ben Thoreson, Travis (Jenny) Thoreson, Becky Parker, Jen Parker, and Billy Parker; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Rennie Brown, Judy Medley, and Criss Schlimgen; and brothers, Ronnie and Donnie Auwerter. She was preceded in death by her parents. A private service will be held for Glenda. The family of Glenda would like to thank Gundersen Hospice for their extraordinary care they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Glenda’s memory. Vosseteig Funeral Home & Crematory in Westby is serving Glenda's family. 708 S.
