Glenn Barstad, 87, of Westby died Thursday, July 29, 2010. Glenn Barstad, 87, of Westby died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Norseland Nursing Home.Glenn was born on September 15, 1922 to Alf and Ella (Fredrikson) Barstad. He attended Eide Country School and on August 16, 1949 was united in marriage to Jeanne Thorson. Glenn was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, active in the Westby American Legion, a member of Westby Rod & Gun Club, served on the Westby Fire Department and was a founding member of the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward. He worked hauling milk, ran the local Shell station, worked for Erickson Hardware Store and then also worked the farm at Tri-State.Glen is survived by children: Ned (Betty) Barstad of Westby and Beth (Stephen) Patterson, of Charlotte N.C.; five grandchildren: Seth Barstad of Westby, Jesse (Erin) Barstad of Westby; Abby (Sam) Hamilton, of Mt. Horeb, Cameron Patterson, of Charlotte, N.C., and Kirsten Patterson, of Charlotte, N.C.; two great-grandchildren: Reed Barstad of Westby, and Isaac Hamilton of Mt. Horeb; and sister Audrey Berg. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne; and his parents.Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main, in Westby, on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m., and also at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
