Harlan D. Jacobson, age 78 of Westby, died Thursday, October 15, 2009. Harlan D. Jacobson, age 78 of Westby, died Thursday, October 15, 2009. He was born on September 22, 1931 to Enor and Mabel (Frydenlund) Jacobson. He graduated from Westby High School in 1948 at the age of 16. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On June 29, 1957 he was united in marriage to Evanelle Skaaland at Bethany Lutheran Church in Esofea and together they celebrated 52 years of marriage. Harlan worked for many years at and retired from Oscar Meyer in Madison. He was an avid gardener and had a lifelong interest in aviation, having own and flown small aircraft. Harlan was an expert craftsman and woodworker. In addition to his wife, Evanelle, he is survived by three daughters: Amy (Jacobson) Gardon and partner, Tom VanEffen; Kari (Jacobson) Juadis and her husband, Zach Juadis and their son, Harley Juadis; and Rachel (Jacobson) Lo and her husband, Rafael Lo and their daughter, Ruby Lo; two sisters in law: Janice Jacobson and Arlene Davidson; two brothers-in-law: Bob (Denise) Skaaland and Reuben (Jacquie) Skaaland; nieces, and nephews. and a large extended family that includes a loving supportive caretaker, Elizabeth Rossing Erickson. He had many friends in both Westby and Madison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by is mother and father-in-law, Robert and Alida Skaaland; one brother, Enor Jacobson, Jr. and one brother-in-law, Jim Skaaland. Blessed be our memory of Harlan Jacobson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11.
