Harlan Johnson, 71, of Westby died Sunday, February 03, 2013 Harlan Johnson, 71, of Westby died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. Harland was born in Viroqua to Alvin and Hazel (Skogland) Johnson on March 15, 1941. He grew up in rural Chaseburg and graduated from Westby High School. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army where he served for 3 years in Germany. Following the service Harlan worked as a surveyor in the construction of the interstate between Eau Claire and Black River Falls until a car accident left him disabled. He then lived with his folks working the family farm until it was sold in 1977. For the past many years Harlan worked at VARC until he became ill in December. Harlan was a member of Westby American Legion #155 and Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Harland was survived by his brother Mark (Laurie); sister Margaret Mullikin; brother-in-law William Pike; uncle Reuben (Doris) Johnson; nephews and niece Shelley Gabrielson, Deb Kane, Jeremiah (Marcy) Johnson, Lee Johnson, Scott Mullikin, Craig Mullikin, Tara Mullikin; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Karen Pike. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Reverend John Dumke will officiate with burial to follow in Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 on Tuesday at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main, in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
