Harlan Roland Stoleson

Harlan “Stolie” Roland Stoleson, age 94, of Westby, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Norseland Nursing Home. He was born on July 12, 1929, in Westby to Oscar “Isaac” (Staalasen) and Mabel (Martinson) Stoleson. During his early life, he helped his parents on the family farm and worked part time at a filling station and the Post Office. After gaining full time employment with the post office, he continued working as a postal carrier and clerk in Westby for 30 years. During that time, Harlan was elected as an alderman and later mayor. Harlan married Betty J. Bott on May 11, 1963. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being a tobacco farmer, spending time with his grandchildren, and was an avid woodworker. Camping and family trips were always a fun time.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; his sons, Jeff (Amber) Stoleson and David (Joy) Stoleson; grandchildren, Sarah Herald, Julia Stoleson, Mackenzie Stoleson, and Isak Stoleson; great grandson, Camryn Matteson; other relatives and friends.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, infant brother, Thomas Stoleson, Doris Stoleson, Esther (Orland) Davig, Ada (Orville) Lee, Lulu (JD) McLain, and Margaret (Andrew) Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Norseland Nursing Home.

A Funeral Service for Harlan will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Alyssa Weaver will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Harlan will be laid to rest at Coon Prairie Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
