Harland Mathison

WESTBY Harland Mathison, age 91, died Thursday June 15, 2017. Harland Mathison, 91, of Westby, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua, WI. He was born on April 24, 1926 at home on Rognstad Ridge in rural Cashton. He married Eunice Christianson in Westby on March 1, 1952. Harland was a life long member of North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Newry, WI. Harland and Eunice farmed on Rognstad Ridge on the Mathison family farm until his retirement in 2000. He was a school bus driver for 28 years for the Westby School district, a job he loved dearly, as he watched the children on his route grow up. Harland was a loving devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. Harland is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Eunice; two sons: Gary (Barb) Mathison, and Daniel Mathison; one daughter, Jane (Keith) Hanson; grandchildren: Nicole Westlund, Scott (Jodi) Mathison, Craig Mathison, Eric Mathison, Kris (Kelli) Hanson, Jennifer (Jamie Lunde) Hanson, Nicky (Mike) Lineberry, and Jason (Krista) Dreves; and 18 great grandchildren; one brother, Trygve (Karan) Mathison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Andrew and Helen (Peterson) Mathison; In-laws, Gilbert and Alfhild Christianson; sisters-in-law: Gladys Grindle, and Muriel Bushek; brothers-in-law: Otis Offerdahl, Sylvester Bushek, Eldon Johnson, and Ralph Grindle; and nephew, Brent Mathison. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the North Coon Prairie Church. Pastor John Dumke will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday from 10am till the time of service at 11. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be given to the North Coon Prairie Church.
