Harold C. Hagen, age 96 of Westby, died Saturday, December 20, 2008 . Harold C. Hagen, age 96 of Westby, died Saturday evening, December 20, 2008 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. He was born on September 27, 1912 in Vernon County, Wisconsin to Hans and Kristine (Hanson) Hagen and attended Unseth School. On June 10, 1942 he was united in marriage to Lillian (Steenberg) Pederson. Harold was a mechanic and worked for Art Hegge and retired from Stefferud Equipment in 1977. He was a volunteer fireman for the Westby Fire Dept. for 25 years and had been a Wisconsin Fireman of the Year. He was a member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council and was a life member of the Coon Prairie Preservation. He is survived by four children: Monte (Shirley) Hagen of Westby, Maureen (Terry) Pautz of Clinton, Wi, Charlene Pederson of Westby and Robert (Sonja) Pederson of Coon Valley; six grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ione (Bud) Hauser of Cashton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife. Lillian; six sisters: Eva, Cora, Helma, Nora, Georgia, and Sadie; and two brothers: Arnold and Harry. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday at the church after 10 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
