Harold Gander

Harold Gander, age 73, of Platteville and formerly of Soldiers Grove, passed away peacefully in his sleep early on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. He was born on November 15, 1948, to the late Clyde and Gloria (Barlow) Gander. Harold graduated from North Crawford Schools with the class of 1967. Following graduation, he attended U.W. Richland and graduated from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College with an Associate Degree in Finance. He worked as a game room manager at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College for several years. Following the closure of the game room, he moved back to Soldiers Grove to care for his mother. For many years, he delivered the Shopping News, cleaned Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, and did babysitting. He had a passion for the Green Bay Packers, enjoyed shooting pool, playing foosball, checkers, cribbage, taking numerous pictures, collecting cameras, and was a member of the Soldiers Grove Lions Club Auxiliary. He enjoyed going to auctions and was a member of the Community of Christ Church. His faith was very strong. Harold had a love for his family and friends and enjoyed learning the genealogy of his family. Harold did not let his disability or health issues slow him down or define him. Survivors include his siblings, Connie Stenner of Dodgeville, Carol (Eldon) Bartels of Fennimore, Diana (Tom) Doering of La Valle, Clyde “Earl” (Judy) Gander of Los Fresnos, Texas, and Sandy (Scott) Konopasek of Blythedale, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and a bother-in-law, Dennis Stenner. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Community of Christ Church, 43983 County Rd X, Soldiers Grove. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Harold will be laid to rest at North Clayton Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
