Harold "Howdy" Adrian Vedvik, 85, of Seneca, died April 1st, 2013 Harold "Howdy" Adrian Vedvik, 85, of Seneca, died April 1st, 2013 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born in 1927 at home in Seneca, WI to Jacob and Agnes (Anderson) Vedvik. He was Baptized and confirmed in Utica Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church. He attended elementary school at Seneca State Graded School grades 1 8th, and graduated with the class of 1946 at Seneca High School. When Seneca School Band was organized in the fall of 1939, Howdy started playing the snare drum with the band while in 5th grade. He continued playing with the band thru grade school and high school. When entering the Army in 1951 he continued playing the snare drum in the Dixie Division Band. He married Meredith Homuth on December 8, 1950 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Mt. Sterling by Pastor Han Finstad officiating. After the service he returned home and was employed with his father Jacob Vedvik Sr. in the logging and sawmill business. In 1972 he started working at the Lock and Dam 9 in Lynxville, WI, until his retirement. But he continued buying logs as a sideline for several years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Meredith; three children, Rick Vedvik, Randy (Janet) Vedvik and Teri (John) Swanson; brother Jacob Vedvik Jr; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Agnes Vedvik; sister Margaret (Howard) Roemer; niece Marcia Connely; sister-in-law Arvalene Vedvik; in-laws Dick and Dorothy Homuth; and brother-in-law Donnie. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorial contributions may be made to Utica Lutheran Church or a charity of donors choice. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Utica Lutheran Church. Pastor Nile Sandeen will officiate with burial, with military honors, to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Gays Mills is serving the family.
