Harriet A Ostrem

Harriet Ostrem, 81, of Viroqua, died Friday, August 22, 2014. Harriet Ostrem 81, of Viroqua, passed away peacefully Friday, August 22nd 2014, at Vernon Manor in the presence of her family. Harriet was born February 13th 1933, to Herman and Aleda (Natwick) Raaum. Her father passed away when Harriet was a young child. Aleda later married Hermans brother Thomas (Tommy) who became the dad and grandpa we all loved. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1951 and soon married Ardene Ostrem. They spent a wonderful 63 years sharing lifes challenges, joys and adventures together. Together they raised 2 sons (Phillip Ardene and Daniel Evan) and 2 daughters (Kathleen Marie and Tina Marie). They also tragically lost a daughter (Corrine Harriet) after only one day. Harriet enjoyed quilting over the years and her time with her church circle and bible study group. She loved to play dominos with her family, which always brought laughter to the point of tears for all of us. Her giggle was contagious and brought joy to all she knew. Harriet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister. Blessed be her memory. She is survived by her husband, Ardene Ostrem; children, Phil Ostrem of LaCrosse; Kathy Loefflad and her husband Don of Viroqua; Dan Ostrem and his wife Susie of Virginia Beach VA; Tina Clements and her husband Ron of Huntersville NC; sister, Pauline Miller and her husband Richard of La Crosse; grandchildren, Jason Ostrem, Kyle Buros, Brett Ostrem, Tracy Trahan, Lindsay Buros, Sacsha Bailey, Morgan Bailey; great-grandchildren, Israel Ostrem, Dalton Buros, Mari Buros, Naia Buros; great-great grandchild, Sawyer Trahan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Aleda Raaum, Tommy Raaum; brother Robert Raaum; infant daughter Corrine Harriet. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday August 27, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Steven Minnema will officiate with burial to follow in the Bethel Cemetery in rural Viroqua. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church from 10 a.m. till the time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be given to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
