Hazel R. Larson, age 70 of Westby passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Norman and Norma (Vangen) Volden on October 12, 1936 in Westby, Wisconsin. She was baptized and confirmed at Westby Coon-Prairie Church. Hazel married Richard L. Larson on January 19, 1957. She loved antiquing, camping, golfing, flea markets and auctions. She greatly loved her grandchildren. Hazel opened the H & R Block offices in Viroqua in 1968. She worked for Vernon County, both in Health and Social Services and later opened the Corner Tax Service in Westby. She is survived by her husband: Richald L. Larson; three children: Lynn (Dan) Sprain of La Crosse, WI; Bonnie (Bob) Pingel of Owasso, OK; Steve (Shelly) Larson of Crystal Lake, IL; eleven grandchildren. Sisters: Kitty Rogers and Mae Rude of Westby; Olive Perry of Shawano WI; Betty Roth of Charleston, SC; sisters-in-law: Elaine Jaeger and Mabel Volden of Westby. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Jane and Janice; and two brothers Eugene and Harold. Visitaion will be held at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main Street, (Hwy. 14 south) in Westby on Friday, August 31, 2007 from 4-6 p.m., with a Memorial Service to follow. A private burial will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Norsland Nursing Home. The family extends their sincere thanks to the many caregivers, friends and family who were a part of Hazels care. A special thank you to the Vernon Memorial Hospice staff and the staff at Norseland Nursing Home. We will never forget your kindness. The Vosseteig Funeral of Westby is serving the family.
