Helen B. Schluter

Helen B. Schluter, age 95 of Westby and formerly of Glenwood, MN, died early Thursday morning, March 10, 2011. Helen Schluter, 95 of Westby, WI, formerly of Glenwood, MN, died Thursday, March 10th 2011 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby where she had become a resident. Previously to this she had resided at Old Times in Westby for the past four years, and before that in Glenwood, MN.She was born on August 9, 1915 to Carl and Margaret Pederson in Glenwood, MN. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1933. She married Irving Missman in 1939 and they were later divorced. On August 9, 1952 she married Erv Schluter and they lived on Lake Minnewaska near Glenwood, MN, for 51 years. Erv preceded her in death in 2003. She was a life member of Glenwood Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary and the Legion Auxiliary. Helen is survived by her daughter, Nancy Theige of Westby; her son James Missman of Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren, Paula (Mike) Hogan of Ham Lake, MN; Chris (Kerri) Theige of Westby; Karla (Casey) Campbell of Reedsburg, WI; and Michael Missman of Cincinnati, OH. She is further survived by six great-grandchildren, John, Megan, Ross, Casey, Jack and Jack. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers; son-in-law Jon Theige; two great-grandsons, Austin Missman and Gregory Missman, and a nephew. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate. Burial will be at the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery, Glenwood, MN, at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
