Helen L Zitzner

Helen Louise (nee Runice) Zitzner, 92, of Viroqua, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua. Helen was born in Crawford County to Alfred and Ida (Olson) Runice. She graduated from Lansing High School in 1940. On September 5th, 1942 she was united in marriage to Orbin Zitzner. They farmed in Franklin Township for 50 years before moving to Viroqua in 1992. She was a faithful lifelong member of Liberty Pole United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker, gardener and seamstress. We will always remember her loving home-cooked meals, and treasure the beautiful quilts she made over the years. Helen passed away on Tuesday, September 2nd at Vernon Manor at the age of 92, where she was a resident for the past two years. The family is very appreciative for the dedicated staff that cared for her during this time. She is survived by three daughters, Rita (John) Burckhardt, Betty (Jerry) Fredrickson of Viroqua, and Debra Nedland (Ron Erman) of Florida. Nine grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Tomlin of Brookfield, Dawn Drake (Steven Cade) of Westby, Scott (Lisa) Burckhardt of Jefferson, Sheri (Trent) Strangstalien of Viroqua, Mark (Jacque) Fredrickson of Mt. Horeb, Tracy (Tony) Jaynes of Baraboo, Eric (Diane Parr) Nedland of Viroqua, Ryan (Rebekah Voehl) Nedland of Viroqua and Emily Nedland of Viroqua, and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Edward in 1969, her husband Orbin in 1998, her son-in-law Blayne Nedland in 2000 and her great-grandson Nicholas Tomlin in 2013. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday September 6th, 2014 Liberty Pole United Methodist Church in Liberty Pole, WI. Pastor Jean Waldron will officiate. Interment will follow in the Liberty Pole Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm, Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Vosseteig Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua (123 West Decker St. Hwy. 56) In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Liberty Pole United Methodist Church.
