Helen M. JefsonMarch 29, 2005 Helen M. Jefson, age 90 of Westby, died early Tuesday morning, March 29, 2005 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was born on December 15, 1914 in Vernon County, Wisconsin to Palmer and Balma (Peterson) Nyhus. On December 17, 1932 she was united in marriage to Julian Jefson and together they farmed in the Westby area all their married life until moving into Westby in May of 1977. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby, the WELCA and Mary Circle. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, playing cards and flowers. She had also been a volunteer at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. Helen was especially proud of her grandchildren and loved them dearly. She is survived by one son, Donald (Delaine) Jefson of Westby and Donna (Howard) Bergh of Arkdale; eight grandchildren: Sandra Casey of Friendship, Sheryl (David) Boles of Janesville, Shirley (Cory) Cook of Yoder, IN, Bruce (Gwen) Bergh of Janesville, Brian Bergh of Arkdale, David Jefson and special friend, Cindy of Viroqua; Daniel (Jody) Jefson of Westby and Daron (Tammy) Jefson of Viroqua; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Arland Herried of Viroqua; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian on July 29, 1982; two brothers: Palmer Nyhus and Alvin Nyhus; and three sisters: Marian Lavold, Belva Lium and Florence Herried.
