Helen Marie Stokke, 95, of Viroqua, died on Friday, September 18, 2015 . She was born on November 21, 1919 to Theodore and Helene (Josvanger) Stokke. She was baptized in 1919 and was confirmed by O.J. Nesheim at the North West Prairie Lutheran Church. Helen graduated from the Viroqua High School in 1938. She was employed in Milwaukee for 20 years as Profit and Loss Clerk for Plankinton, a division of Swift and Co. of Chicago. She then worked for the Usinger Sausage Co. in Milwaukee. Helen retired after 25 years as bookkeeper and cashier. She was a member of the American Business Womens Association. She was named Woman of the Year in 1986 for Milwaukees Forward chapter. Helen also was an active member of the Milwaukee Zonta Club, an international organization. She was still an active member of the American Legion Alonzo Cudworth Auxiliary #21. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Leslie (Lynda) Stokke, Larry (Marianne) Stokke, JoAnne (Ron) Unseth, Joyce Stokke, Ron (Dorothy) Stokke, Don (Julie) Stokke, Karen Luher, Christine Valesh, Rachel (Sam) Frazer; great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, Special friend, Howard Dunnum; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Verna Valesh, and Luella Stokke; four brothers: Orlando, Edgar, Earl, and Norris Stokke; twin nieces: Karen and Kathryn; brother-in-law, Charles Valesh; and two sisters-in-law, Mary and Esther Stokke. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Pastor Pete Beckstrand will officiate with burial to follow in the De Soto Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 10 am till the time of service at 11.
