Helge A. "Sam" Fredrickson, 67, of Lansing, IA, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Helge A. "Sam" Fredrickson, 67, of Lansing, IA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born on September 9, 1945 in De Soto to Sven and Emma (Anderson) Fredrickson. He previously married Betty Olson and later divorced. He served in the Vietnam War from 1966-1968. Sam enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and his old cars. He is survived by his significant other of 27 years, Dianne Thompson; three sons, David Fredrickson (Traci Radke), Tim (Sara) Fredrickson, and Ed (Tammy) Cottone; step-children Tom (Penny) Thompson and Brenda (Tracy) Snitker; grandchildren Amber, Megan, Damien, Loren, Rudy; great-grandchildren Wesley, Trystan and Quintin; sister Bev Suiter; special friend Vi and special cousin Janet. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Sonja and brother Conrad. Friends may call from 11 to 1 on Tuesday, January 15th, 2013 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 320 Main Street, in De Soto. A burial will follow at the Readstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be directed to the family. The Vosseteig Larson Funeral Home of De Soto is serving the family.
