Herman Casper Hall, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby, WI. He was 91. Junior was born to Louise (Bjornstad) and Herman Hall, Sr. on October 27, 1932. He grew up on the family dairy farm between Westby and Cashton, WI. Junior attended grade school in Newry, this is where he learned English (Norwegian being his first language). He graduated from Westby High School in 1950, where he participated in F.F.A. and the Rifle Club.
Junior left home to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base Alaska as a member of the Engineering Section of the 66th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. After the Air Force, he settled in Tacoma, WA starting his family, moving them to Wisconsin in 1971. Junior was a farmer, a logger, an airplane mechanic, and proud of his Norwegian heritage.
Junior is survived by his son, Ron (Marsha) Hall; his daughter, Linda (John) Irrthum; three grandsons: Zac (Ashley) Hall, Marcus Irrthum, and Clint (Erica) Irrthum; and two great-grandchildren, Mya Hall and Fredrick Irrthum.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harland and LeRoy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Norseland Nursing Home for their wonderful care of Junior during his time there.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Norseland Activity Fund in Junior’s name.
A gathering to celebrate Junior's life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Junior will be laid to rest at Coon Prairie Cemetery.
