Hope Kathleen Swenson, age 89 of Viroqua, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Hope Kathleen Swenson, age 89 of Viroqua, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was born on June 24, 1919 in Viroqua to Clarence and Nettie (Appleman) Hall. She graduated from Viroqua High School and the business college in Minneapolis, MN. On February 26, 1942 she was united in marriage to Edwin Kenneth Swenson. Hope worked as a secretary at Vernon Co-Op Oil in Viroqua for 43 years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the W-ELCA and the Dorcas Circle. Hope enjoyed her friends, farm, family and church, her flowers and her cat, "Mr. Kitty". She is survived by her son, Steven Swenson of Viroqua; two sisters-in-law: Joanne Hall of Pasadena, CA and Elnora Swenson of Viroqua; four nephews: Roger Swenson, David Swenson, Nile Schmidt, and Kelly Hall; three nieces: Judy Johnson, Eldoris Ekern, and Mary Solverson and a cousin, Margaret Case. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin on June 8, 1989; two brothers: Thurman Hall and Clarence Hall, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Arlene Hall and a nephew, Fredrick Swenson Blessed be our memory of Hope Kathleen Swenson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. The Rev. Lindsay Paul Jordan will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call after noon on Saturday at the church. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
