Inez Hagen

Inez Hagen, 90 of La Farge, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 She was born in Vernon County on April 7, 1924 to Helmer and Ruby (nee Lee) Hagen. She attended grade school at Kickapoo Center and Bloomingdale. In 1942 she graduated from Westby High School. On June 2, 1946 she was united in marriage to Arnold Hagen from Indian Creek (Rockton area). Together they started farming in Indian Creek and in the spring of 1951 they moved to the Star Valley farm located two miles north of La Farge. After selling the farm, they spent the summer in Colorado and returned to Viroqua where they resided for 22 years. In 1988 they sold their home in Viroqua and built a new home 3 miles east of La Farge. Inez spent many hours sewing in the winter and tending her flowers in the spring and summer. She is survived by her sons, Gary Hagen of La Farge and Kevin (Linda) Hagen of Deforest; two grandchildren, Nick of Deforest and Tim of Madison; one great-granddaughter, Natalie of Deforest; a sister, LoRayne Wittmershaug of Sparta; and a sister-in-law, Norma Onsager of Valders. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Arnold; her parents; four brothers; two sisters; and nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Sandhill Bethany Lutheran Church in rural La Farge. Pastor Amanda Schultz will officiate.
