Ingrid Ann (Bekkedal) Sadler , December 25, 2005 Ingrid Ann (Bekkedal) Sadler, age 63, died December 25, 2005 at her home in Westby. Ingrid was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on December 23, 1942 to Martin Verdel and Katherine (Herbert) Bekkedal of Westby, Wisconsin. Her grandparents were Martin Hanson and Amanda (Anderson) Bekkedal of Westby and Dr. Ralph Henry and Gertrude (Sharpnack) Herbert of La Crosse. Ingrid attended Westby High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a Bachelors Degree in Art Education. She taught elementary art in Palm Beach and Tallahassee, and also in Westby schools. Ingrid was also the director of a recreation center for a U.S. Military Base in Germany thus, Ingrid had the opportunity to chaperone several trips for servicemen throughout Europe and the Mediterranean, including the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Spain, and Portugal. While in Germany, she met Jerry Sadler, an enlisted man. They were married and lived in Florida, his home state. Ingrid returned to Westby following her divorce and became very active in numerous organizations. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sister, Maren K. Johnson of Tacoma, WA; her brother, Martin H. "Buzzy" Bekkedal of Jacksonville, FL; an aunt, L. Verona Bekkedal of Tacoma, WA; 3 cousins, Johana Hersel, Dr. Tekla Bekkedal, and Mary Fortney; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
