WESTBY Irvine Merle Engen, age 89, died Sunday February 18, 2018 surrounded by loved ones, at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. Irv was born September 16, 1928. He graduated from Galesville High School. With a partner, he operated a meat-locker, until, he was drafted by the U.S. Army, in 1951. During the Korean Conflict Irv was stationed in Sasebo, Japan. After his honorable discharge, he married Patricia Burns and moved to Westby. Once there, Irv became a fuel and gas distributor for Standard Oil and then Amoco until his retirement in1980. Irv was also a school bus driver for Westby High School, for over 25 years. Irv was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed charter-boat fishing for Salmon and Smelts in Lake Superior. He was proud to be a member of the La Belle Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was a Past Master of the Lodge. Irv and Pat spent 15 years wintering in Arizona. They also enjoyed many years camping and touring in their motorhome. They went on several cruises and also went to Europe. Irv is survived by; his wife of 63years Pat, his three children Penny (Dennis) Havlik, Tim Engen, and Paul (Robbyn) Engen, and nine grandchildren Matthew (Nikki Masterson) Havlik, Nicholas (Andrea) Havlik, Chardonel Havlik, Reeselyn Havlik, Megan (Joe Farke) Engen, Joe Engen, and Kaylyn, Paige and Colleen Engen. He is preceded in death by; his parents and his brother Larry (Janine survives) Engen. A Memorial Service for Irvine will be held Saturday March 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Friends may call from 10 am till the time of service at 11. In lieu of flowers or plants memorials should be directed to the Shiners Hospital Foundation or to Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby.
