Jacqueline “Jackie” K. (Rose) Long, age 75, of Viola passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Soldiers Grove Health Services in Soldiers Grove. She was born on August 20, 1948, to the late Gordon and Rosemary (Frye) Rose in Janesville, Wisconsin. Jackie graduated from Tomah High School and entered the work force by moving to Walworth, Wisconsin to work for a food processing plant.
Jackie married David Long on July 20, 1973, by the justice of the peace in Junction City, Kansas. While David was stationed in Germany for his military service, she joined him for a brief time before moving back to Wisconsin. After David returned from Germany, they moved to El Paso, Texas where he was stationed. After his honorable discharge in 1978, Jackie and David moved back to Wisconsin where they would call their home. In 1988, after David finished his schooling, they moved back to Viola where Jackie and David would continue to live.
She had a heart for animals, always wanting to take care of any type. Jackie loved gardening, especially in the garden that her husband made her. In 2013, when they were fully retired, Jackie and David would travel the United States to 18 states and 13,000 miles. During the wintertime, they would travel to Arizona every year until 2018.
Jackie really did enjoy her retired years with her family and all the memories shared will be forever cherished.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 50 years, David; children: Jennifer (Ken) Nehls of Nort Port, FL, Phillip Oliver of Viola, and Jason (Daylene) Long of Gays Mills; grandchildren: Christa Foster, Kayla and Seth Oliver, Austin, Christopher, Irim, and Iasia Long; great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Xavier, Dax, and Ahlayna; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mark (Birgett) Long of Dixon, MO, Dale (Mindy) Long of Viola, Christy (Dan) Hadley of Viola, and Cheryl Milkert of Norwalk; and nieces and nephews.
