James A. Erlandson, 66 of Minneapolis formerly of Westby died Wednesday, February 22, 2012. James Erlandson, age 66, formerly of Westby died Wednesday, February 22nd at his home in Minneapolis. He was born Feb, 26, 1945 to Chester and Ivy(Sanding) Erlandson of rural Westby. He was baptized and confirmed at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Jim attended Unseth Country school and was a 1963 graduate of Westby High School. He attended UW River Falls and then went on to become an accomplished hairdresser in Minneapolis. Following that career he drove taxi for a number of years. He was an avid Twins and Viking fan. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Mpls and in his retirement, enjoyed studying Genealogy as well as being extremely interested in politics. He was a lifelong lover of animals. Jim loved family functions and wanted everyone to have a good life. He will truly be missed. Jim is survived by one sister, Carol(George) Navrestad, Westby, three brothers, Sherman (Esther)Erlandson, Westby, Ernest(Margot) Erlandson, Brookville, PA and Roderick(Rita) Erlandson, Coon Valley, one Aunt Ardyce(Blaine) Haugen, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and beloved dog Romeo. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, Richard and Donald, one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Bob Erickson and niece and nephews Shelly, Jay and Jody. Funeral services will be held Thurs, March 1 at 11 AM at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis Hallemeier officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethany Church Cemetery in Esofea. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
