James Dale Armoto, age 77, passed away Monday, August 17, 2026, at Mayo Hospital, Bloomer, WI.

Jim was born January 15, 1949, in Viroqua, Wi. to James and Iva Armoto. He spent his early years growing up in the DeSoto/ Victory area. At age 18, Jim was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War where he served his country in Germany for 2 years.

He married Sandra Stussy on October 9, 1971. They raised 3 sons, Robby, Nick and Jamie.

Jim's work history included farming, building of storage towers and tanks for Chicago Bridge and Iron and Brown Tank that required extensive travel to different job sites.

A work accident forced Jim into retirement in December 1998.

Jim and Sandra moved several places after retirement, including Alaska and Texas and ultimately back to their home state of Wisconsin. Jim was Sandra's caretaker for many years until her passing in October, 2013.

After some time, Jim had the blessing of a second love in his life, Barbara Hedrington. They shared a very special bond and life together until Jim's death. They were loyal, loving and caring to each other and their families.

Jim was preceded in death by wife, Sandra; son, Robby; brothers, David and Nicholas Armoto; sisters, Bonnie Rolff, Judith Paggi, Barbara Kaufman; special pet dog, Misty; other family and friends.

Jim is survived by Barbara Hedrington; Barbara's children, Jason ( fiance' Tina Edwards) Hedrington of Chippewa Falls, WI and Jennifer Hedrington of Raleigh, North Carolina. Also, survived by brother, John (Sue) Armoto of Indianapolis, IN; Sons, Nick and Jamie Armoto; grandson, Austin Armoto; many nieces, nephews and cousins, other family and friends.

Jim enjoyed watching westerns, fishing, cooking and playing poker for hours with family. He had a fun spirit about him and an awesome laugh. You will be missed by many, Jim. God bless his memory.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Vosseteig Funeral Home, 325 Sunset Ridge Ave, Gays Mills WI. Pastor John Armoto will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be immediately after the service with Military Funeral Honors at the Gays Mills Cemetery, located at 16745 State Highway 131, Gays Mills. A lunch will be served after graveside services at the Gays Mills Community Center, 16381 State Highway 131, Gays Mills. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
