James (Jim) Jeffery died Sunday, February 26, 2012. James (Jim) Jeffery died peacefully at home Sunday, February 26 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 1, 1927 in Cumberland, Wisconsin to William and Emma (Hanson) Jeffery. He graduated from Cumberland High School in 1946. Jim served in the Navy for two years. He married the love of his life, Marge (Adamson) in 1951. After moving to Viroqua, he owned and operated Jefferys Cleaners until he retired in 1983. Jim brought his love of hockey to Viroqua, volunteering countess hours down at the Park Bowl coaching generations of kids. Jim was also proud of being a member of the Viroqua Fire Department. A few minutes spent with Dad, and you would know that he had a passion for all things to do with the water and boating. He loved the Mississippi River. Dad liked coffee time and cocktail hour or any opportunity to chat. More recently, he enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, going gambling and spending time with his dear friend Vernell. Jim is survived by his son Jim (Laurie) Jeffery and daughters Sue (Tom) Gordon and Amy (Larry) Kolden. Grandchildren Erik, Megan, and Kelsey Jeffery, Aaron Gordon and Emma Kolden. A brother in law Dick Adamson and a sister in law Dorothy Schroeder. Nieces, nephews and good friend Vernell Harris. Preceded in death by his wife Marge, one brother Bill and four sisters Josephine, Harriet, Esther and Twylla. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 2 at the Viroqua United Methodist Church at 11am. The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday from 10am to 11am at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Viroqua Hockey Association or Vernon Memorial Hospice. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
