James M. Davidson

James M. Davidson, age 64 of rural Viroqua, died Monday, November 5, 2007 James Milton Davidson, age 64 of Viroqua, died Monday, November 2, 2007 at his home. He was born June 12, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey to Hubert and Marjorie (Theige) Davidson. In 1945 he lost his father, who gave his life for his country in World War II. James moved back to Wisconsin with his mother. In 1961 He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, Beloit WI, and then attended Milton College, a private college in Milton, WI for four years. He went to Alaska where he worked with his uncle Orin. He later returned to Westby and helped his uncles on the farm, and also did some farming on his own, worked for his neighbors and helped his friends. He also worked with the Rod & Gun Club and Old Towne Inn in Westby. He was a life member of the Westby Snowflake Ski Club and the Rod and Gun Club where he did a lot of volunteer work for both. Jim had many friends and in his younger days he did extensive traveling, was an avid reader and sports fan, and also was a history buff. He was a very giving neighbor and helping hand. Jim was kind to all natures animals. Dejs (Jims dog) was his best friend and Jim fed many animals. He was confirmed in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Beloit, WI and after coming back to Westby he became a member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church and in 1943 was baptized by Pastor J. O. Holum.He is survived by relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles.Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy. 14 in Westby on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. and at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Vernon County Humane Society or Tabby Town in Westby.The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
