James Virgil Muller

James Virgil Muller, age 41, of Viroqua and formerly of La Farge, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026. He was born on February 17, 1985, in Groton, Connecticut to Douglas and Geraldine (Carney) Muller. After his family moved to La Farge in 1992, he attended La Farge schools where he was active in the choir and theatre departments. After graduating in 2003, he lived independently and participated in the theatre community, becoming active in the La Crosse and Viroqua Community Theatres. He performed in the following plays: “The Music Man” 2011; “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” 2012; “Nosferatu” (understudy) 2010; “Murder Me Always” 2012; and “Crimes of the Heart” 2013.

Christmas was always Jim’s favorite time of the year. He started decorating the day after Thanksgiving and the season gave him much joy. He was known for his knowledge of football, movies, and television.

Survivors include his parents, Douglas and Geraldine (Carney) Muller; his brother, Brian Dennis Muller; his sister, Geri Ruth (Ben Damberg) Muller. He is surrounded in love by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

James was preceded in death by his grandparents: Virgil and Ruth Muller; and Geraldine Ellen Carney and Fredrick James Carney; and his uncle, Matt Muller, whom he had a special relationship with.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in La Farge. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. James will be laid to rest at Bear Creek Cemetery after the service.
