James Schneider, 79, of Viola, died Friday, October 16, 2015. A. James Schneider, 79, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. A. James Schneider (Jim) was born in Willmar MN on May 16, 1936 to Dr. A.J. and Evelyn Schneider. AJ graduated from Willmar High School, and continued his education at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA, graduating in 1954. He started his teaching career in Iowa. While teaching in Iowa he met his wife of 53 years, Leona. They were blessed with two daughters, Angela and Theresa. AJ continued his teaching and coaching, moving to Viola in 1963, teaching and coaching at Kickapoo High School until his retirement in 1987. After many years of struggling with complications of Multiple Sclerosis, AJ (Jim) spent the last six and a half years at Pine Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Richland Center. He received much loving and personal care from the nurses and staff while there. AJs life long hobby of raising and showing Fantail Pigeons brought him many hours of enjoyment. He was able to continue his hobby with the help of many of his friends in the Fantail clubs, his daughter Theresa, and several of his grandchildren. AJ (Jim) is survived by his loving wife, Leona; daughters: Angela (Mike) Alexander and Theresa (Steve) Alexander; grandchildren: Logan, Lindsey, Lacey, Robert (Jill), Devon, Lance, Brandon, Morgan, Jalen, Guinn, and Nolan; great-grandchildren: Jenner, Emma, and one to be born in March. He is also survived by a sister, Julie Moisan of Spokane, Washington; brother, Stephen (Kathryn) of Jordan, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. Fr. John Mano will officiate with burial to follow in the Viola Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church from 10 am until the time of service at 11. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be directed to the Pine Valley Foundation. Online Condolences may be offered at www.VossFH.com. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes are serving the family.
