WESTBY Janet Elizabeth (Thomas) Quinn, age 75 of Holmen and formerly of Ellsworth, died Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Lakeview Health Center in West Salem. She was born on April 19, 1941 in Galesville to William and Gertrude (Steiger) Thomas. In 1959 she graduated from Gale-Ettrick High School and then attended U.W. LaCrosse. She married Larry Quinn and they moved to Ellsworth with their children, Carla and Karyn. Janet and Larry later divorced. She worked in the bookkeeping department at several businesses and in 1972 she started working at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she retired in 1999 as the Assistant Controller. Jan was a member of the North Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as a grand officer in 2002-2003. She also served in various other organizations. In her retirement years she enjoyed gardening, traveling and golfing. In addition to her two daughters, Carla (Michael) Burns of Sheboygan, and Karyn Quinn of La Crosse, Janet is survived by two grandchildren: Erin Burns and Brett Burns; friend, John Hoeschele; three sisters: Marilyn (Ray) Anderson of Galesville, Dorothy Trachte of St. Joseph, MI, and Kay (David) Vosseteig of Westby; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law. Janets family would like to thank the Northwood staff at Lakeview Care Center for their excellent care of Janet while she was a resident. A celebration of Janets life will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at North Presbyterian Church, 1327 N. Salem Road in La Crosse. The Rev. Scott Skogen will officiate. Burial will be at the Pine Cliff Cemetery in Galesville. Janets family will greet relatives and friends at church after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be directed to The North Presbyterian Church or The Association For Frontotemporal Degenration (AFTD), Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087.
