Janice R. Ostrem

Janice Ruth (Nelson) Ostrem, age 73 of Columbus and formerly of Newry, died on Monday, January 29, 2007 Janice Ruth (Nelson) Ostrem, age 73 of Columbus and formerly of Newry, returned to the Lord on Monday, January 29, 2007 at her home in Columbus. She was born on August 15, 1933 to Richard and Rose (Larson) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, Newry. On April 2, 1955 she married Gordon Ostrem and they lived in the Milwaukee area. In 1963 they moved to Columbus. In addition to her husband, Gordon, she is survived by one son, Randy "Rudy" (Lisa) of Sun Prairie; one daughter, LeAnn (Chuck) Knoeck of Neenah; four grandchildren: Lyda Ostrem, Thor Ostrem, Benjamin Knoeck and Zachary Knoeck; one sister, May Haakenson of LaCrosse; one sister-in-law, Carole Nelson of Tomah; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Raymond Nelson; and one brother-in-law, Raymond Haakenson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. The Rev. Dr. Steven Fossum will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call after 12:00 noon on Friday at the Vosseteig Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
