Jay W. Haggerty

January 24, 1941 — January 18, 2024

Jay William Haggerty was born January 24th, 1941, to Bill and Joyce Haggerty in Gays Mills, Wisconsin, where he grew up with his brothers Lee and Rance. Jay enjoyed this time in his life so much that he wrote several unpublished works loosely based on his childhood for other children to read. Topics included stories about exploring the Kickapoo River, working at his father's grocery store on Main Street, and most importantly pulling pranks on people!

After high school, Jay attended UW Milwaukee where he received a degree in international relations, elementary education, and a master's in educational administration. He went on to teach at UW Oshkosh, several inner-city schools in the US, and even Venezuela. Despite being a teacher, Jay was always ready to be the student and learn something new from anyone he met. He was a great listener with a huge heart.

Jay is survived by his girlfriend, Karen; his son’s mother, Veronica; and his dear friends Colleen, Kelly, Bryant, Sara, and Stephen.

He was preceded in death by his loving son Branston, his parents Bill and Joyce, and his good friend Paul Kegel.
