Jean Ellefson

Jean Ann Ellefson, 82 passed away Wednesday October 26, 2017. She was born on June 28, 1935 in Viroqua to Odean and Zaleme (McHenry) Ellefson. Jean graduated from Viroqua High School in 1953 and continued her education at Luther College to become a teacher. Jean taught 1st. and 2nd grade in Minneapolis for over 30 years. Jean was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. She loved to knit and make mittens for her school children. During the summers she enjoyed spending time at her cabin on the lake near Bloomer. After retiring from teaching Jean moved back to Viroqua to take care of her parents. Jean was an active volunteer at the Temple Theatre, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and for many years enjoyed being a reading buddy. Jean is survived by; sister-in-law Gerry Ellefson of Viroqua, Nieces Christi Reed (Bob Bolstad) of Cashton, Heidi (Andy) Gruse of Neenah, Nephews Eric Ellefson of Minneapolis, and Hans Ellefson (Stephanie Rasmussen) of Raleigh North Carolina. Great Nieces and Nephews, Leslie (Mike), Henrikson, Jessica (Chris) Huschka, Benjamin and Matthew Gruse, Elaine and Aaron Ellefson. Also surviving are Great-great nieces and nephew Kylie and Allie Huschka, Torsten and Anna Henrikson. Jean was preceded in death by; her parents, Odean and Zaleme Ellefson, a brother Christian Paul Ellefson, and an infant brother David Odean Ellefson. Blessed be our memory of Jean Ellefson. Funeral Services for Jean will be Monday October 30, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Yvonne Marshall will officiate with burial following the service at Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation at the church one-hour before the service from 10-11 am.
