Jeanne Lorraine Kabat

VIROQUA Jeanne L. Kabat, age 82, of Viroqua, died peacefully Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua surrounded by her children. Jeanne was born on August 4, 1934 in Worcester, MA to Theodore and Yvonne (La Montagne) Rondeau. She went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Josephs Hospital School of Nursing, Nashua, New Hampshire. The majority of her working career was in Viroqua as an Obstetrics (OB) Nurse for Vernon Memorial Hospital for some 37 plus years. It was often said that she delivered generations of children in the Viroqua area. She was a mentor and a teacher not only for the nursing staff, but doctors too. When Jeanne wasnt working she enjoyed life. She traveled extensively, to such notable places as Paris, Rome, Hawaii, and even Cuba. She loved to dance, play cards, go on adventures with her friends, and fill her home with those she loved. She was an avid patron of the Fine Arts and spent a lot of time sharing that love with her grandchildren introducing them to Theater and the Symphonies. She also was a HUGE Packer and Brewers Fan, taping every Packer game. She was a friend to everyone she met. Jeanne was married to Richard W. Kabat, September 5, 1956 and then later divorced. She is survived by her children, Diane (Gholam "Jorj") Rezaii of Apollo Beach, FL, Susanne Sue (Roman) Maule of West Salem, Stephen Steve Kabat of Conway, Ark., Juliane Julie (Andrew) Halverson of Viroqua, Rosanne Rose Whitmore of Maple Grove, MN, and Gloriane (Terry) Noble of Viroqua. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Jeremy, Nick, Dustin, Harlee, Brandon, Brittany, Kyle, Jason, Kendra, Liz, Megan, Tyler, Anna, and Jacob; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Arianna, Piper, Brandon Jr, Brenden, Wyatt, Olivia and Emma; three brothers, Ray, Tom and Wilfred Rondeau; a sister, Pauline Shepherd; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and one granddaughter, Amber Halverson. Jeanne was a lifelong member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Maplewood Terrace, Dr. Mike Kalinosky and the VMH staff who cared for and honored her in her last days. A Funeral Mass for Jeanne will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. Father Joseph Maria Arokiam will celebrate the Mass. Entombment will be at 3:00 P.M. at the Garden Mausoleum of the Catholic Cemetery of La Crosse following the luncheon at the Church. Friends may call upon the family during a visitation on Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua, from 4:00-7:00 P.M., and the morning of the Funeral Mass prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 A.M.
