Jeannette C. Hagen, age 85 of Westby, died on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 . Jeannette C. Hagen, age 85 of Westby, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. She was born on September 24, 1923 to Henry and Emily (Nightingale) Hanson. She was a graduate of Westby High School and on February 26, 1944 was united in marriage to Clifford R. Hagen. Together they farmed in the Westby, Cashton and Viroqua area until their retirement in 1980 when they moved from Asbury Ridge to Westby. Clifford passed away on March 12, 1991. Jeannette loved to do yard work and gardening. She also enjoyed things like watching and feeding the birds in her front yard. She was always willing to lend a hand to help others. She enjoyed making quilts with her quilting friends from Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her love and kindness. Jeannette was a longtime member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church and was an active Ladies Aid member and was in many circles over the years. She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Gilster of Bangor; six grandchildren: Jerri Lynn (Scott) Johnson of Bangor, Mikkel (Courtney) Dunnum of West Salem, Krista (Eric) Beron of Bangor, Rhonda (Bob) Charneski of Black River Falls, Robert (Denise) Hagen of Ohio and Scott Hagen of Ohio; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Minnie Olive (Adrian) Fortun of Westby; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Clifford Hagen; one son, Ronald Hagen; her parents; and one infant brother. Her absence will be felt in many places, and she will be sadly missed by her family. She served the Lord faithfully and now He will serve her. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday after 12:30 p.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
