Jeanette was born in Eastman, Wis. to Frank and Lillian (Looker) Shepherd on March 14, 1923. She was united in marriage to Gregory Venner on February 25, 1941 in Genoa, Wis. Jeannette played a key role in raising her eleven children and there was never a dull moment as you might well imagine. Back then when we kids were growing up and doing our homework Mom was our Google. She thought nothing of cooking a Christmas feast for 40 people. Speaking of food, Mother made the best pumpkin pie in Crawford County, if not the State! She loved to read especially biographies; canned and froze Dads garden vegetables and made delicious meals with them. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting and was known for her beautiful singing voice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory; three sons: Ronald, Raymond and David; one great-great-granddaughter, Madeleine Henry; six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children: Rita (Milan) Weber of McFarland, Elaine (Tom) Waterman of Fitchburg, Linda (Dick) Hudson of Prairie du Sac, Mary Berry of Mt. Horeb, Michael of Madison, Diane of Prairie du Sac, Teresa (Barry) Kleppe of Waunakee, and Joe of Madison; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Marion Halverson of Gays Mills. The Venner family would like to thank the staff at MapleWood of Sauk Prairie for watching over Mom this last month and Dr. Koch, and the two years of loving care by the staff at the Pines in Prairie du Sac. Mom we love you more! A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Gays Mills.
