Jennie Harris, age 91 of Viola, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Jennie Lucille Harris, age 91 of Viola, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua. She was born December 29, 1916 to John and Laura (Steenson) Syverhus. She attended Seas Branch Rural School, Westby High School and Vernon County Normal. She taught at the Ames School. Jennie married Hilmer Harris on December l, 1945. They farmed in the Viola and Westby area for several years and moved to Viola in 1965. She was a life long member of the Westby Coon Prairie Church and belonged to the Viola American Legion Auxiliary for 59 years. She is survived by special cousins: Flossie Anderson of Viola; Shirley Russell of IL. She is also a God-mother of Kim Horejs of Appleton and other distant relatives.She was preceded in death by her Parents; husband, Hilmer, a brother, Erland Syverhus and sister Myrtle Syverhus. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center, 129 S. Main (Hwy 56) in Viola. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the Viola Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vosseteig Funeral Homes Memorial Center after 12:00 noon on Saturday. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kickapoo Rescue Squad or the Viola Cemetery. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center of Viola is serving the family.
