Jesse "Jack" John Heisz

September 16, 1924 — June 26, 2023

Jesse "Jack" John Heisz passed away at home on June 26, 2023. Born September 16, 1924, to Edward and Mollie (Briggs) Heisz. Jesse was the third oldest of thirteen children.


He grew up in Crawford County where he worked on the family farm prior to enlisting in the United States Army. He served in the European Theater during WWII and was honorably discharged. He worked in Beloit for many years and retired from US Gypsum after 25 years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, trapper, bowler, card player, and PBR drinker. He was a member of several sportsman’s clubs and was a member of the Kickapoo Valley Ringers. He loved to play horseshoes and was a jack of all trades.


He was united in marriage on December 3, 1949, to Betty Ann “Anna” Markin at the Bell Center Church. Together they had eight children: Patti (Dennis) Tonne, Mara Lee Heisz, Jessie (Darrell) Cooper, Peter Heisz, Carrie (Ron) Tarpein, Billy (Grace) Heisz, Andy (friend Tina) Heisz, Charlie (Wanda) Heisz; eighteen grandchildren: Philip (Wendy) Tonne, David Angelescu, Joseph (Monica) Tonne, Joshua (Katie) Tonne, Amanda (Jayson) Hochhausen, Coty (Savanna) Tonne, Ken (friend Traci) Heisz, Brian Gustafson, Eric (Michelle) Runnells, Tyler (Ashley) Tarpein, Blade Prinz, Shale Prinz, Lindsey (Derick) VanDyke, Garron (Brittany) Peacock, Austin (Vanessa) Heisz, Anna Heisz, Brittany Heisz, Jack Heisz; and 17 great-grandchildren. Many people called him dad or grandpa, but his honorary sons were Joe Special and Tony Hughes. He is further survived by his sister, Emogene (Jack) Ehle, and his brother, Lawrence (Peck) Heisz.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Anna; his siblings, Lincoln (Gene), Francis (Dutch), Charles, Sarah Steines, Bernard, Ruth Vermillion, Donald, Margie Knoble, Emmett, Clarence; and grandson, Blade Prinz.


A Funeral Service will be held at Noon on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Gatherings on the Ridge, 25941 Hwy 27, Eastman, WI. Visitation will be held Friday, June 30, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Gatherings on the Ridge. Additional visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Jesse will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Evergreen Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
