Jim Bye

June 12, 1958 — March 9, 2025

James "Jim" Bye, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Ferryville, Wisconsin, at the age of 66. Born on June 12, 1958, in La Crosse, Jim's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for the outdoors, and his friendly and loving nature.

Jim grew up in La Crosse and was a proud graduate of Central High School. After completing his education, he dedicated many years of hard work to Norplex in La Crosse, where he was respected as a skilled manufacturer. His colleagues knew him as a reliable and handy individual who could be counted on to lend a helping hand or share a friendly smile.

Outside of work, Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He found joy in fishing and hunting, often sharing these experiences with his closest friends and family members. His love for nature was evident to all who knew him, as was his talent for woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to create beautiful pieces that his family will treasure forever.

Jim's sense of adventure also led him to enjoy numerous trips to Laughlin, Nevada, with his beloved wife, Roxanne. Together, they made memories that would last a lifetime, always looking forward to their next getaway. Jim also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers while cooking his chicken. But above all, Jim's greatest pleasure came from spending time with his family, especially his cherished granddaughter, Lillianna, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life.

Jim's loving presence will be deeply missed by his wife, Roxanne Bye; his sons, Nicholas (Kristine) Bye and Jeffrey (Mary) Bye; his granddaughter, Lillianna Bye; his siblings, Mary Lee Kerrigan, Kathy (John) Ostenson, Nancy (Phil) Hodapp, William Bye, Robert Bye, Paul Bye, and Natalie (Lowell) Henning; as well as his many in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who were all touched by his warmth and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Marcella (Gronemus) Bye; and his brother-in-law, Jim Kerrigan, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.

Jim's life was a testament to the values of love, friendship, and hard work. He was the kind of man who could fix anything, offer a word of encouragement, and make anyone feel at home. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him and in the stories that will be told of his handy skills, his loving embrace, and his friendly demeanor.

As we say goodbye to Jim, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His spirit will continue to inspire us, and his memory will be a guiding light for all the days to come. Jim's family takes comfort knowing that he is at peace and that his life's journey was filled with happiness, laughter, and an abundance of love.
