Joan Nedrelo, 77, of Seneca, died Thursday, September 24, 2015. JOAN (HELGERSON) NEDRELO On Thursday, September 24, 2015, Joan Emile (Helgerson) Nedrelo, age 77, Seneca, died peacefully at Gundersen Health System after a brief battle with cancer. Joan was born March 20, 1938 in the Town of Utica, Crawford County to Emil and Johanna (Wedeberg) Helgerson. She was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of the Mt Sterling Lutheran Church. She graduated from Gays Mills High School. On September 7, 1957 she married Ronald Nedrelo and they had three children. Joan lived around or in Seneca most of her life. For many years she worked at Johnsons One Stop. She also worked at and retired from Prairie City Bank. Church, community, family were important parts of Joans life. She was known as Mom (Ma), Grandma Jo, and GG to many. She spent hours tending to the flowers and birds in her back yard. She especially loved hummingbirds and kept feeders going all summer long. Another anticipated event for Joan was the new season of Dancing with the Stars, watching it weekly with her neighbor Meredith while taking meticulous notes and keeping score. Joan is survived by her children: Randy (Roxann) Nedrelo of Onalaska, Laurie (Martin) Olson of Bangor, and Terry Nedrelo of Seneca; 9 grandchildren: Ashley (Keith) Roberts, Brent, Erik, Keith and Craig Nedrelo, Cory and Shelby McCullick and Gabriel and Savanna Olson; 4 great grandchildren: Kaden, Kash, Elijah, and Isaiah. She is also survived by 2 brothers: Johnny (Patty) Helgerson of Coon Valley, and Donald (Rosemary) Helgerson of Gays Mills; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Ronny who died November 11, 1992, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Danna Helgerson, her brother and sister-in-law LaVerne and Janet Nedrelo and her father and mother in law Alfred and Mary Nedrelo. Funeral services will be at Mt Sterling Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Pastor Nile Sandeen will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the services. Online condolences may be offered at www.VossFh.com Mom asked that we thank all her family and friends for their love, support and prayers over the last few weeks and expressed a special thank you to the Vedviks and Swansons who mom said were more than neighbors, they were family. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Gays Mills is serving the family.
