Joanne O. Dunnum, age 66 of Viroqua, died Friday, September 18, 2009. Joanne O. Dunnum, age 66 of Viroqua, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at her home after a long courageous battle with Lupus. She was born on January 7, 1943 in LaCrosse to Edwin and Irene (Lee) Stendalen. Joanne attended Von Ruden Grade School and graduated from Westby High School in 1960. On October 8, 1960 she was united in marriage to LaVerne Dunnum at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church where she has been a member of the Lydia Circle for many years. Together she and LaVerne farmed for well over 30 years. Joanne had also worked at the Westby Pharmacy and as a receptionist for A1 Accounting in Westby. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Irene Stendalen; three children: Debra (Arthur) Moore, John (Cheryl) Dunnum and Diane (Robert) Anderson; six grandchildren: Mac Moore (Lisa), Crystal Survis (Jason), Mitchell Moore, Lee Dunnum (Kijah), Zachary Phenis, and Macayla Anderson; five great-grandchildren: Leah Survis, Haley Survis, Emma Survis, Rylee Dunnum, and Bauer Dunnum; two sisters: Sharon Amundson of Sparta and Joyce (Dick) Swiggum of Cataract; three brothers: Wayne Stendalen of West Salem, Robert (Joanne) Stendalen of Holmen and Gary (Krin) Stendalen of Westby; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arlie (Judy) Dunnum; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and special friend, Ardith Sisbach. She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Stendalen her father and mother in-law: LeRoy and Selma Dunnum and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lila and Clifford Paulsrud. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Monday after 10 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
