JoAnne R. Boardman, 76, of DeSoto died Thursday, August 20, 2009. JoAnne Rae Boardman died unexpectedly August 20th, 2009.She was born September 20th, 1932 to Melford (Tony) and Violet Johnson. She was the middle child of five children, Loren, Donald, JoAnne, Carolyn Maybee, and Leora Jambois.JoAnne attended grade school at the one room school house of Battle Hollow and graduated from Viroqua High School in 1950. She married Harry Boardman Jr. Nov. 23, 1951. JoAnne loved to quilt, crochet and knit. She had the gift of viewing a quilted, knitted or crocheted item and then duplicating that item in its entirety. JoAnne used that ability with the birth of each and every grandchild and great grandchild. She would welcome them into the world with a special blanket made full of love by her own hands. JoAnne also knitted and donated warming caps for newborns at various hospitals.Joanne was a lover of reading and passed that love onto her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to go antiquing with her daughters and was a collector of Hull Pottery, Jewel-T and Depression glass.JoAnne spent most of her time with her family. She stressed that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her blessings and her purpose in life. JoAnne often stated she would not have changed a thing, not even the bad times that she experienced. When not spending time with her family she would spend time with her neighbors, which she spoke of so often.JoAnnne was a loving, humble down to earth person and strongly believed that the simple things in life were the best and if one looked hard enough one would find true, simple happiness and always looked for the good in everything and everybody.Joanne enjoyed many genres of music her; favorites were country gospel and classical. She was big fan of Charley Pride, George Jones, Randy Travis, Johnny Cash and her favorite being Elvis Presley.She worked at Northern Engraving for 26+ years as a Quality Control Engineer and waitresses at the "El Das German Haus" in Victory, WI for approximately 2 years. She is survived by children Dennis (Jeannie) Boardman, Diana Liebnow (fianc Dan Leitz), Sherri Pazurek, Doug (Jodi) Boardman, Dan (Kelly) Boardman and Janelle (James) Cisneros; 17 grandchildren, Travis (Angela) Boardman, Troy, (Sara) Boardman, Melissa Pekala, Melinda Miller, Scott Liebnow, Matthew (Jennifer) Liebnow, Nicole (Justin) Potter, Jacob (Shanna) Pazurek, Jessica (Cliff) Hutton, Krista Pazurek, Jennifer Pazurek, Stacie (Joel) Clark, Shaun (Athena) Boardman, Taylor and Mitchell Boardman, Brandon and Megan Cisneros and Brandon Shepard; 23 great grandchildren, Evan and Nolan Boardman, Dravin, Xaveria, Jake and Connor Boardman with brother due to arrive in November, Hayley and Candice Pekala, Hannnah, Lauryn and Masyn Miller, Reece McCartney, Xavier and Talyna Liebnow, Michael, Ashton and Jameson Potter, Ember Pazurek, Elana Pazurek, Gavin Pazurek, Sterling and Shayella Clark. JoAnne is preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law, parents, two infant children, and sister. A memorial service will be held at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home (320 Main St, DeSoto) on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. with visitation Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of DeSoto is serving the family.
