Joanne Walter

JoAnne Walter, 78 of Viola, died Saturday July 5, 2014 She was born on July 29, 1935 to John and Winifred (nee Tucker) Carlin, in Scott Township, Crawford County WI. JoAnne was united in marriage to Jerry Walter on June 2, 1956. She graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1953. She attended Vernon County Teachers College where she graduated in 1955. In 1994 she received her Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. JoAnne first taught Elementary School in Pine Nob, and then taught school for many years at the Kickapoo Area Schools. JoAnne is survived be her children, Joyce (Clyde) Patterson and John Walter; grandchildren, Jennifer JoAnne Heal and Jay Edward (Stacy) Heal; great-grandson, Blake Edward Heal; sisters, Sharon (David) Glendenning and Cindy (Lee) Steckman; sister-in-law, Janice (and the Late Jack) Slayton; she is further survived by other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jerry Walter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Viola with Pastor Elleen Kuehnl officiating. Interment will follow in the Viola Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 11, 2014 from 4-6 at the church and will continue Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center in Viola is serving the family.
