John I. Meyer, age 64 of DeSoto, died on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 John I. Meyer, age 64 of DeSoto, died on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at his home. He was born on June 9, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to John and Monica (Phannenstil) Meyer. On December 18, 1976 he was united in marriage to Judy Falkenstern in Racine, Wisconsin. John and Judy lived in Union Grove, Wisconsin until moving to the DeSoto area in 1993. John had been a welder for 35 years and was also a farmer. He enjoyed going to the Bright Spot in DeSoto for breakfast. John served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by two sons: Vincent R. Meyer of Onalaska and Clifford A. Meyer (Kim) of DeSoto; one sister, Mary Ruetz of Union Grove, Wisconsin and one brother, Robert Meyer of Union Grove, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 320 Main Street (Hwy 82) in DeSoto. Father Robert J. Cook will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in the Walnut Mound Cemetery at Retreat. Friends may call on Sunday after 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in DeSoto.
